Dervin Mateo-Berrios On Probation During Shooting: Dockets

A probationer was arrested in connection with a homicide attempt, Lancaster City police announced on Friday, June 28.

Dervin Mateo-Berrios, 51 of Lancaster, has been arrested and charged in connection with the shooting that sent one person to the hospital occurred on Thursday, June 27, 2024, police detailed in the release. 

The shooting happened in the 600 block of Ocean Ave, Lancaster City that left one victim hospitalized. Dervin was charged with three felons for Criminal Attempt of Homicide and two counts of Aggravated Assault, the police say and court documents confirm. 

He has been caught driving under the influence at the highest rate twice as well as DUI four times, and one count of simple assault, court records show. He was still serving two years of probation at the time of the Lancaster City shooting.

During his preliminary arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Jodie E. Richardson at 10:45 a.m. on June 28, he was denied bail "Due to nature of charges and safety concern for victim," as stated in his latest court docket. 

He has been held in the Lancaster County Prison until his preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Adam J. Witkonis at 9 a.m. on July 10.
